About

Project&snewest original production is Pan with Project& Fellow, MacArthur Fellow, Avery Fisher Prize-winner, and flutist Claire Chase. Pan , a 90-minute participatory opera that invites local community members to be part of a large ensemble of non-traditional collaborators. We collaborated with the Riseboro Community Center, Roundtable Senior Center, and youth groups in Bushwick, and Queens, New York. Alongside Claire Chase, these community members performed in the three sold-out world premiere performance of Pan at the famed performance space, The Kitchen. Pan was in full performance mode at Garfield Park's Fieldhouse. Pan performances in Chicago were in full attendance. PAN's performance in Chicago's historic Garfield Park Field House we collaborated with The Peoples Music School and Chicago West Community Music Center. Pan strengthened community ties through collaborations that cross neighborhood and social boundaries. Project& is the Creative Engagement/Presenting Collaborator at the MCA (Chicago) for JACK &, a comedy of errors conceived and directed by Kaneza Schaal. The performance, inspired by the life of formerly incarcerated actor/justice activist Cornell Alston, considers the metric-less damages of being in prison. JACK & premiered by Project& and the MCA with curated discussions, including Imagining Change in Cycles of Incarceration, a panel discussion on interventions and accelerants in this cycle. Project&s Working in America initiative (WIA), continues across the country -- having been in Chicago, Aspen, Oakland and now St Louis! The initiative includes a nationally traveling photographic exhibition inspired by the brilliance of Studs Terkel and his influential book Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do (1974). in dialogue about emotional labor, the future of work, incarceration and work, creative process and work.
