CCL IDENTIFIES INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME LEADERS AND HELPS THEM SHAPE THEMSELVES INTO PROFESSIONALS WHO NOT ONLY TAKE CHARGE OF THE ART IN THEIR CARE BUT ARE ALSO CAPABLE OF ASSUMING THE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL TO HIGH PERFORMANCE IN TODAY'S ART MUSEUM.

CCL PROGRAM FOR SENIOR ART MUSEUM CURATORS:CCL'S CORE FELLOWSHIP PROVIDES EXPERIENCED CURATORS WITH INSTRUCTION FROM COLUMBIA BUSINESS SCHOOL FACULTY AND EXPOSURE TO REAL-WORLD CHALLENGES FACED BY CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS TODAY.MENTORING IS A KEY ELEMENT OF THE PROGRAM AND EXTENDS THE LEARNING OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. EVERY YEAR, DIRECTORS AND TRUSTEES FROM MAJOR MUSEUMS ACROSS THE WORLD HOST FELLOWS FOR A WEEKLONG RESIDENCY. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING FELLOWS WITH MENTORS OF THEIR OWN, CCL CHARGES ITS FELLOWS TO MENTOR YOUNG PEOPLE FROM COMMUNITIES THAT ARE UNDERREPRESENTED WITHIN THE CURRENT RANKS OF THE CURATORIAL PROFESSION.CCL/MELLON FOUNDATION SEMINAR IN CURATORIAL PRACTICE:IN 2014, CCL LAUNCHED A PROGRAM FOR PH.D. ART HISTORY STUDENTS AS PART OF ITS INITIATIVE TO EXPAND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CURATORIAL PROFESSIONALS. SUPPORTED BY A GRANT FROM THE ANDREW W. MELLON FOUNDATION, THE CCL/MELLON FOUNDATION SEMINAR IN CURATORIAL PRACTICE INTRODUCES STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, IN ALL FIELDS OF SPECIALTY, TO MUSEUMS AND OBJECT-BASED LEARNING. THE PROGRAM COLLABORATES WITH INSTITUTIONS IN AND AROUND NEW YORK CITY, OFFERING TEN TO FIFTEEN STUDENTS AN UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY TO BE MENTORED BY SENIOR CURATORS AND TO OBSERVE, ANALYZE, AND PARTICIPATE IN THE MUSEUM'S ACTIVITIES.
