Accomplishments
- In july 2018, the mmi hired a full-time dedicated employee to manage the gateway to leadership program concluding the formal relationship with the united college fund (unicef) and the hispanic association of colleges and universities (hacu) to source diverse candidates for internships and full-time entry-level opportunities at mmi member firms. in 2018, the gateway to leadership program launched two student cohorts in two cities, with two distinct delivery models overseen by an advisory group. forty-seven college students were enrolled in the 2018-2019 gateway to leadership pre-professional financial industry training program in philadelphia and new york city. mmi has continued to work directly with member firms to enroll their self-recruited diverse interns into the gateway program to benefit from the industry training and exposure to industry professionals. mmi added more educational content and activities to the program experience such as monthly firm-hosted experiences, netmeetings with industry leaders, thematic workshops, networking receptions with industry insiders, and invitations to attend mmi industry events. additionally, gateway now offers annual "student experience" scholarships as part of a career awareness initiative, inviting local students to attend the mmis annual conference and sales & marketing leadership summit.
