Mission

We identify, fund, scale, and measure the apparel and footwear industry's proven environmental impact solutions. Aii plays the critical role of a technical clearing house for our partner brands, manufacturers, and philanthropic donors, validating and aggregating proven environment initiatives. Our focus areas are energy, water, and chemistry.

About

Clean by Design is a comprehensive mill improvement initiative that improves the energy, water, and chemicals usage in wet processing - textile mills, the apparel and footwear industry's most resource intensive production segment. Since 2007, the approach has been introduced to more than 200 mills of all ages and sizes. The program has demonstrated environmental and financial return on investment and could be scaled to any level given appropriate demand. Together, with AII and its partners, CBD will rollout to 100 facilities in 2018 and expand further in years to come.
