In 2018, A Safe Place provided on-going direct support services to 129 victims of sex trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation (77% home state NC, 48% home county New Hanover). As a result of the growing opioid epidemic in our area, last year 91% of our members entered our program with an active drug/alcohol addition. In order to provided the best services possible to our members, we hired a Director of Addiction and Recovery Services and expanded our program. These services included substance abuse counseling, peer group meetings, NA/AA meeting requirements and weekly drug and alcohol screenings.
