Mission

The purposes of a Community Land Trust are to provide access to land and housing to people who are otherwise denied access to increase long-term community control of neighborhood resources to empower residents through involvement and participation and to preserve the affordability of housing permanently.

About

The Essex Community Land Trust ECLT is a nonprofit organization that holds land in trust for the purposes of preserving perpetual affordability of the homes built on the land by community developers. In doing this, the organization also preserves public dollars used to build/reconstruct housing and ensures the low-to moderate- income buyers succeed as a buyer and do not foreclose by providing pre and post purchase stewardship.
