CHANNEL KINDNESS: A PLATFORM CREATED BY YOUNG PEOPLE, FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO TELL STORIES OF KINDNESS HAPPENING IN THEIR COMMUNITIES, PROVIDING A HOPEFUL ALTERNATIVE TO THE OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE NARRATIVES THAT DOMINATE THE MEDIA. CHANNEL KINDNESS, THROUGH THE STORIES OF MORE THAN 90 YOUTH REPORTERS, IS PAINTING A DIFFERENT PICTURE OF YOUNG PEOPLE, EMPOWERING A GENERATION TO TELL THEIR OWN STORY. THE YOUTH REPORTERS ARE PROVIDED WITH ONGOING TRAINING AND SUPPORT TO STRENGTHEN THEIR STORYTELLING SKILLS AND AMPLIFY THE POWER OF THEIR VOICES. THE KIND COMMUNITIES SURVEY: SINCE THE INCEPTION, RESEARCH AND EVIDENCE-BASED STUDY HAVE INFORMED THE WORK, PARTNERSHIPS, AND PROGRAMMING OF THE FOUNDATION. ONE RECENT PIECE OF RESEARCH, CONDUCTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BENENSON STRATEGY GROUP, POLLED MORE THAN 3,000 YOUTH AND 1,000 PARENTS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW YOUNG PEOPLE'S MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPACTED BY THEIR RELATIONSHIPS AND ENVIRONMENTS, DIGITAL AND OFFLINE. THE SURVEY FOUND THAT KINDNESS, PEERS, AND RESOURCES ARE ALL KEY TO SUPPORTING YOUTH MENTAL WELLNESS AND PROVIDED A ROAD MAP OF TANGIBLE WAYS TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH IN HIGH SCHOOLS, ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES, AND IN WORKPLACES.DONORSCHOOSE.ORG PARTNERSHIP: A COLLABORATION WITH DONORSCHOOSE.ORG TO ENCOURAGE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TO CREATE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL WELLNESS PROJECTS IN THEIR CLASSROOMS, AND TO PROVIDE MATCHING FUNDS TO BRING THESE IDEAS TO LIFE. IN TOTAL, 673 PROJECTS WERE FULLY FUNDED IN 405 SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, HELPING MORE THAN 72,000 STUDENTS AND SUPPORTING 489 TEACHERS.
