FUNDED THROUGH GRANTS TO SCHOOLS, THE PROGRAM FULLY INTEGRATES GARDENS AND TEACHING KITCHENS IN SCHOOLS AS INTERACTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS - GIVING STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THEIR CORE ACADEMIC SUBJECTS AND THE WORLD OF FOOD. IN FY 2018/19, THE EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION AWARDED A TOTAL OF $1,424,952 TO SCHOOLS UNDER EMERIL'S CULINARY GARDEN & TEACHING KITCHEN. GRANT FUNDS WENT TOWARD CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR SCHOOLS TO EXPAND THEIR CURRENT GARDENING PROGRAMS AND BUILD NEW CULINARY CLASSROOMS. THE EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM PROVIDES CAPITAL AND PROGRAMMATIC SUPPORT TO NON-PROFIT YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS DELIVERING CULINARY, NUTRITION, AND ARTS EDUCATION. IN FY 2018/19, THE EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION AWARDED A TOTAL OF $1,767,873 IN COMMUNITY GRANTS, IMPACTING 13,026 YOUTH. FUNDS WERE AWARDED TO THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS: BROAD COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE REFRESH PROJECT; EINSTEIN GROUP, INC IN SUPPORT OF EINSTEIN CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL'S CULINARY ARTS CTE PROGRAM; FOOD FOR THOUGHT OUTREACH IN SUPPORT OF THE EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION FULL CIRCLE KITCHEN; LOUISIANA RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION EDUCATION FOUNDATION IN SUPPORT OF THE LOUISIANA PRO-START PROGRAM; SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF GREATER NEW ORLEANS AND ACADIANA IN SUPPORT OF THE SUMMER FEEDING AND AFTER SCHOOL SNACK PROGRAM; COVENANT HOUSE OF NEW ORLEANS IN SUPPORT OF THE GIFT OF HOPE CAMPAIGN; EDIBLE SCHOOLYARD NEW ORLEANS IN SUPPORT OF PHILLIS WHEATLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL'S NEW OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AND GARDEN; THE NOCCA INSTITUTE CULINARY ARTS CENTER, IN SUPPORT OF THE EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION CULINARY ARTS LAB; THE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT IN SUPPORT OF YEP ENRICHES YOUTH ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMING; CRESCENT CITY SCHOOLS IN SUPPORT OF THE CULINARY EDUCATION CLUB AT PAUL HABANS CHARTER SCHOOL; THE ECOLOGY CENTER IN SUPPORT OF ROAD TRIP: A MOBILE FOOD EDUCATION CENTER; ARC BROWARD IN SUPPORT OF THE EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION INNOVATION KITCHEN; THE DAN MARINO FOUNDATION IN SUPPORT OF THE DAN MARINO HOSPITALITY CAMPUS; AND THE TROMBONE SHORTY FOUNDATION, IN SUPPORT OF THE TROMBONE SHORTY ACADEMY.
