ASAC prevention provides services throughout our five county service area using the center for substance abuse prevention strategies to strengthen perceptions of harm of substance use and reduce substance use disorders. In fiscal year 2018, ASAC prevention served 20,241 individuals using a variety of individual-based and community-based strategies examples of ASAC prevention's service strategies and successful outcomes include: providing curriculum-based prevention programs specific to substance use. One of the intended outcomes of these programs is to have participants increase or maintain their perception of moderate or great harm from use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, illegal drugs, and prescription drugs and over the counter drugs. Overall, 88% of the program participants either maintained or increased their perceptions that use of these substances caused moderate to great harm.
