About this organization
Mission
We are STEM professionals providing high quality education to close achievement gaps for students in low income communities. Our vision is that all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, have a strong STEM foundation to help them navigate an increasingly complex world. Enduring STEM achievement, access, and literacy gaps disproportionately limit low income, under-resourced, and minority student opportunities. STEM professionals, when thoroughly prepared, are uniquely positioned to meaningfully utilize their talent and real-world expertise as Encorps STEM teachers to deliver an authentic, rigorous, and relevant STEM education to the students who need it most.
About
As of June 2019, Encorps tutors, guest teachers, teacher candidates and full time credentialed instructors have worked in more than 250 schools and organizations state wide, and are impacting more than 35,000 disadvantaged California students annually. Encorps is recognized throughout California as a source of high quality math and science educators; school districts, charter school organizations and individual schools seek to hire our fellows. Encorps educators represent our nation's top STEM experts: they have been employed an average of 17 years as a STEM professional, and 69% have earned a masters or phd in a STEM subject.
