Mercy Education Project provides educational opportunities, life skills development, and cultural enrichment for women and girls living in the city of Detroit who have limited access to resources to enable them to improve the quality of their lives. MEP's goals for women and girls are: - to nurture and develop intellectual and social growth; - to assist in raising self-esteem; - to support efforts toward self-sufficiency; and, - to foster qualities of leadership and service MEP empowers women and girls, and in turn their families and their communities, using education as the catalyst. MEP affects the change Detroit needs, through education, college preparation and workforce development of its women and girls.

Girls' programs in FY19 Mercy Education Project provided remedial, curriculum-based, after-school and Saturday tutoring in reading and math, ACT/SAT test preparation, college and career readiness programming (CCR), STEM robotics and the emerging leader summer enrichment program to 97 at-risk girls in grades two through twelve from low-income households in SW Detroit. 100% of youth who received academic tutoring demonstrated academic improvement, 100% of high school seniors served in the CCR program graduated from high school on-time and were accepted into one or more colleges of their choosing, volunteers donated 5,225 hours in one-to-one tutoring services to the youth.
