Mission

The Literacy Center of West Michigan is committed to bringing about a just and vibrant West Michigan through the power of literacy. This mission statement reflects our intent to improve the current levels of low literacy in our community, driving West Michigan towards having one of the highest literacy rates in the nation. The Literacy Center works with adults, both native speakers of English and English language learners, who read below a 9th grade level and want to improve their literacy. We instruct close to 800 adults annually, utilizing 300 volunteers.
