Through our Children’s Clinic, the IWS provides the highest quality medical, dental and behavioral health services to children from families unable to afford the cost of private health care. THE IWS CHILDREN'S CLINIC IS A FULL-SERVICE HEALTH CLINIC, OFFERING INTEGRATED MEDICAL, DENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME CHILDREN WHO RESIDE IN WEST SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY AND THE CITY OF CHICAGO. ALL OF THE CHILDREN SERVED AT THE CLINIC ARE FROM FAMILIES THAT MEET FEDERAL POVERTY INCOME GUIDELINES. OUR PATIENTS REFLECT THE ETHNIC DIVERSITY OF THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, INCLUDING 54% HISPANIC, 27% AFRICAN AMERICAN AND 19% OTHER. THEY COME FROM FIFTY WEST COOK COUNTY SUBURBS AND THE WEST SIDE OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO (25% OF OUR PATIENT CENSUS). IN THE PAST FISCAL YEAR, THE CLINIC PROVIDED MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND BEHAVIOR HEALTH SERVICES TO 3,426 CHILDREN IN 9,409 MEDICAL AND DENTAL VISITS. OUR PORTABLE DENTISTRY PROGRAM PROVIDED DENTAL EXAMS, CLEANINGS AND SEALANTS TO 2,151 CHILDREN AT 35 SCHOOLS. NUTRITION PRESENTATIONS WERE PRESENTED TO 4,294 STUDENTS AND PARENTS AT 26 SITES AND 2,595 WERE REACHED AT 40 HEALTH FAIRS.
