AT 84 YEARS, THE FORT WAYNE YOUTHEATRE IS THE THIRD OLDEST CHILDREN'S THEATRE IN THE NATION!
About
YOUTHEATRE PRODUCED FOUR FULLY REALIZED THEATRE PRODUCTIONS AT THE ARTS UNITED CAMPUS AND TOURED THREE PRODUCTIONS TO SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES, COMMUNITY CENTERS AND ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES. THESE PERFORMANCES ARE LITERATURE BASED, AND CONNECT WITH LANGUAGE ARTS AND SOCIAL STUDIES. THE 2019 SEASON SAW ATTENDANCE REACH 4904 OR 76% OF CAPACITY WHICH WAS A 3% GROWTH OVER LAST YEAR AND AN 8% GROWTH OVER 16/17. OUR FREE TOURING SHOWS REACHED 1700 AUDIENCE MEMBERS INCLUDING TOURING TO 7 SCHOOLS WHO USED THE LITERATURE BASED SHOWS TO HIGHLIGHT AND ILLUMINATE TEXTS BEING TAUGHT. CHANGES AND EDUCATIONAL EXPANSIONS MADE TO OUR FREE SENSORY FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE RESULTED IN A 350% GROWTH IN ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION. OUR EDUCATIONAL ARM SAW GROWTH AS WELL. THE TWO TEN WEEK SEMESTERS, SPRING MINI SESSION, SPRING BREAK CLASSES AND SUMMER AND WINTER CAMPS OFFER COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING IN ALL ASPECTS OF THEATRE FROM PERFORMANCE TO TECHNICAL PRODUCTION. IN FY 2019 THE THEATRE ENROLLED OVER 643 INDIVIDUAL ENROLLMENTS IN THEIR CLASSES AND SUMMER/WINTER CAMPS.
