The VNA hospice program brings comfort to persons living with a terminal illness and provides support to them as well as to their families. Patients are able to live their final days with peace and dignity through effective pain management and symptom control, in addition to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual support. VNA's hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of caregivers, including the patient's physician, registered nurses, social workers, volunteers, clergy, occupational and physical therapists, chaplains, aides and dieticians in the patient's home, nursing home, assisted living facility or at the VNA Arthur B and Ethel V Horton Hospice Center. For the year ended September 30, 2019, hospice services were provided to 851 patients comprising over 33,000 days of service.
