SEE SCHEDULE OTHE CLEVELAND BOTANICAL GARDEN IS LOCATED ON 10 ACRES IN THE UNIVERSITY CIRCLE NEIGHBORHOOD OF CLEVELAND. THE GARDEN COMPRISES TWO INDOOR GLASSHOUSES AND OUTDOOR GARDENS INCLUDING THE HERSHEY CHILDREN'S GARDEN, WHICH WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO ENGAGE CHILDREN IN THE NATURAL WORLD AROUND THEM. IN FY19, THE GARDEN ALSO CONTINUED MANAGEMENT OF FOUR URBAN FARMS TOTALING AN ADDITIONAL THREE ACRES THROUGH ITS GREEN CORPS PROGRAM. THE CLEVELAND BOTANICAL GARDEN IS INTEGRATED WITH THE HOLDEN ARBORETUM UNDER THE HOLDEN FORESTS & GARDENS BRAND. THE HOLDEN ARBORETUM IS LOCATED 25 MILES FROM THE GARDEN, IN KIRTLAND, OH. TOGETHER, THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS REPRESENT THE 14TH LARGEST PUBLIC GARDEN IN THE COUNTRY. THE MISSION OF THE TWO ORGANIZATIONS IS TO CONNECT PEOPLE WITH THE WONDER, BEAUTY, AND VALUE OF TREES AND PLANTS, TO INSPIRE ACTION FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES. THE COMBINED PROGRAMMING OF THE TWO INSTITUTIONS CREATES MORE OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT, BY LEVERAGING TWO PHYSICAL CAMPUSES, DIFFERENT GEOGRAPHIES, AUDIENCES, AND HISTORICAL TRADITIONS. THE CLEVELAND BOTANICAL GARDEN FULFILS THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION THROUGH CORE PROGRAMMING THAT FOCUSES ON HORTICULTURE, EDUCATION, EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS, AND OTHER PROGRAMS BOTH AT THE GARDEN AND IN THE COMMUNITY.THE HOLDEN ARBORETUM IS INTEGRATED WITH THE CLEVELAND BOTANICAL GARDEN UNDER THE HOLDEN FORESTS & GARDENS BRAND. NEARLY 50 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS COMPLETED THE 23RD YEAR OF THE SIGNATURE GREEN CORPS PROGRAM. THEY LEARNED AGRICULTURAL SKILLS AS WELL AS LIFE AND CAREER SKILLS ACROSS FOUR URBAN FARMS THROUGHOUT CLEVELAND. STAFF ALSO SUPPORTED THE CLEVELAND TREE COALITION EXTENSIVELY, INCLUDING STAFF MEMBERS WHO, RESPECTIVELY, CO-CHAIRED THE WORKING GROUP AND CO-LED THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. THE CLEVELAND TREE COALITION IS CHARGED WITH IMPLEMENTING THE 2015 CLEVELAND TREE PLAN, TO RESTORE THE DECREASING TREE CANOPY IN CUYAHOGA COUNTY. THE GARDEN APPOINTED A DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP, WHO WAS CHARGED WITH IDENTIFYING AND DEVELOPING STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIPS TO HELP GROW HF&G'S INFLUENCE AND IMPACT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. HF&G'S CEO SERVES ON THE CLEAN OHIO NATURAL RESOURCES ASSISTANCE COUNCIL; CLEVELAND NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRESS PLACEMAKING ADVISORY COMMITTEE, HOLDEN PARKS TRUST BOARD; AND UNIVERSITY CIRCLE INC. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
