AOA is land conservancy dedicated to protecting open space, farmlands, and natural areas in central and southeastern Ohio. AOA works with property owners to establish conservation easements, and/or acquire fee lands.

Conservation: 1. AOA conferred with 30 landowners who are potential conservation easement, fee-property donors or Clean Ohio grant project participants. Prepared draft document for one easement donor. Title reviews initiated for 8 projects. 2. AOA completed the negotiation and purchase of 930 acres of land located in Fairfield, Franklin, Highland, Hocking, Jackson and Pickaway counties through Clean Ohio open space and OPEA and OSFWS grants. Six conservation easement purchases, totalling 215 acres were also completed using Clean Ohio open space grant funds. 3. AOA now has a total of 5,9344 acres in 59 conservation easement and 4,962 acres in 44 fee ownership properties. Total acres managed by AOA in 2018 is 10,925. 4. AOA prepared three grant applications to the Clean Ohio open space fund for the Scioto River Flyway project and Big Darby Creek in Pickaway County and two Ohio EPA WRRSP grant applications. Coordinated grant planning with the Columbus Metro Parks, Delaware County Preservation Parks, Ohio EPA, the Nature Conservancy and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
