Child care programs: Head Start/ Early Head Start promote comprehensive school readiness for young children from low income families. Head Start and Early Start programs support the mental, social and emotional development of pregnant women, and children birth to age 5. In addition to educational development using a research based curriculum and activities, our program provides children and their families with health, nutrition, and other services such as fatherhood, community engagement and resources that support families in obtaining self-sufficiency. Our Head Start programs are responsive to each child and families' ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage. Head Start encourages the role of the parent as their child's first and most important teacher. Our program builds relationships with families that support positive parent-child relationships, family well-being, connections to community resources and build social capital among parents.
