About
ADVOCACY AND ORGANIZING: The Coalition focuses on addressing systemic causes of homelessness in order to institute lasting, permanent change. We work with local officials, community groups and individuals who have or are experiencing homelessness to prevent homelessness, fight for the rights of individuals experiencing homelessness, advocate for affordable housing and fight against the criminalization of homelessness. This includes continual organizing with hundreds of people living in properties having thousands of at-risk affordable homes. In the past two years, these efforts have resulted in more than 1,000 homes being saved. To further prevent the loss of affordable housing and resulting homelessness, the Homeless Coalition is working to create more just eviction processes. The Coalition is focusing energy on creating significant new revenue sources for the development of desperately needed affordable housing to eventually fill the shortage of 40,000 affordable homes within Hamilton County and the City of Cincinnati.
