THE MVWC PROVIDED PREGNANCY INFORMATION, SUPPORT, AND PARENTING EDUCATION TO 2,303 WOMEN AND 383 MEN. THIS INCLUDES PARENTING EDUCATION FOR WOMEN AND MEN; SUPPORT FOR WOMEN AND MEN WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED A MISCARRIAGE OR INFANT DEATH; AND ABORTION RECOVERY THAT PROVIDES A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR HEALING FROM A PAST ABORTION. PARENTING COURSES FOR WOMEN INCLUDE PRENATAL DEVELOPMENT, INFANT CARE, MAKING THE HOME SAFE, HOW TO CALM A FUSSY BABY, THE DANGERS OF ALCOHOL, SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME, DEVELOPING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, AND SETTING BOUNDARIES. MEN'S PARENTING COURSES INSTRUCT CLIENTS REGARDING INFANT CARE, SWADDLING (TO CALM A BABY), MAKING FORMULA, TAKING A TEMPERATURE, AND CAR SEAT SAFETY. BOTH MALE AND FEMALE CLIENTS EARNED CREDITS THROUGH THE FORM OF "BABY BUCKS" FOR ATTENDING CLASSES, COMPLETING HOMEWORK, AND ADDITIONAL ASSIGNMENTS. UPON COMPLETION OF A FIVE- OR TEN-WEEK COURSE, CLIENTS CAN SPEND THE "BUCKS" ON BABY ITEMS. FIVE WEEK COURSES WERE ALSO PROVIDED TO PARENTS WHO WERE MANDATED TO COURT-ORDERED PARENTING CLASSES. APPROXIMATELY 348 MEN AND WOMEN PARTICIPATED IN A PARENTING COURSE OR WERE SUPPORTED THROUGH A RECOVERY AND HEALING PROGRAM.
