About this organization
Mission
AdHoc Group Against Crime is a community resource that, through crisis intervention and prevention, supports individuals and families who are adversely affected by criminal behavior.
About
CRISIS INTERVENTION: (a) The Trauma Response Team of AdHoc staff members and trained volunteers conducts door-to-door canvassing in neighborhoods an average of 30 times annually, following a homicide. They invite residents to access AdHoc services and cooperate with police. (b) We conduct an average of 25 Prayer Vigils annually for family and friends to honor homicide victims. (c) AdHoc staff members provide ongoing Crisis Case Management for 380 individuals or family units, annually. (About half of these individuals/families are referred by the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.) Ongoing support includes 4-6 in-person and phone contacts, including an initial trauma-symptom assessment; counsel against retaliation; relocation or crime scene clean-up and repairs to the house/property, when needed; making referrals for AdHoc Counseling; addressing other needs (food, loss of income, funeral costs, eviction/loss of housing, work disruptions, children's school and social disruptions and legal proceedings). (d) We operate 24-hour Community and Youth Helplines. The Community Line receives reports of criminal activity and missing persons age 17 and older; provides access to AdHoc services or referrals; and addresses other concerns. The Youth Helpline is used by parents to report missing teens age 16 or younger, and by youth to access help for personal issues. The helplines combined receive around 540 calls a year. (e) Flier distribution is conducted at the request of AdHoc clients. We average 2-3 requests per month, for which AdHoc staff and volunteers support canvasses for missing adults, teens and unsolved homicides; and we broadcast missing persons alerts on KPRS radio and on social media.
