SkillSource's mission is to facilitate & enhance the employability of individuals & employer access to a qualified workforce. SkillSource, the nonprofit fiscal agent of the Northern Virginia Workforce Development Board, serves over 1.9 million residents & tens of thousands of businesses in Fairfax, Loudoun & Prince William counties & the cities of Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas & Manassas Park at its seven (7) SkillSource Employment Resource Centers. Eligible individuals, particularly hard-to-serve populations, receive training and resources through Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs focused on increasing employment, retention & earnings, occupational skill attainment & improving the quality of Northern Virginia's workforce.

WIOA PROGRAMS:ADULT, DISLOCATED WORKER AND YOUTH PROGRAMS FUNDED THROUGH THE WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) PROVIDE FREE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING SERVICES TO ASSIST ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS IN FINDING AND QUALIFYING FOR MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT. ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS INCLUDE: ADULTS AGES 18 YEARS AND OLDER, LOW-INCOME ADULTS, LOW-SKILLED WORKERS, DISLOCATED WORKERS THAT WERE TERMINATED OR LAID OFF AND LOW-INCOME YOUTH AGES 16-24 WHO FACE BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT. IN FY 2019, 1,077 INDIVIDUALS WERE ENROLLED IN ALL WIOA PROGRAMS, 408 WERE PLACED INTO JOBS, AND 69 INTO WORK EXPERIENCE. AN INDEPENDENT RETURN ON INVESTMENT REPORT ESTIMATED THAT THE BENEFITS OF WIOA PROGRAMS ARE 8.8 TIMES GREATER THAN THE PROGRAM COSTS.
