Belarussian outreach - summer program to host Belarussian children in the US. Belarussian children from impoverished families come to the U.S. for 6 weeks to rest and recover from the effects of living in areas contaminated by radiation from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Belarussian children are hosted by families living in the U.S. In summer 2019, 29 Belarussians were hosted by 24 families in the Raleigh NC area. In the Baltimore MD area, 4 Belarussians were hosted by 4 families and in the Boston, MA area 4 Belarussians were hosted by 4 families. A total of 37 Belarussians were hosted by 32 families in the U.S. Local doctors and dentists serve the children. Local volunteers, churches and businesses provide activities.
