THE QUESTION WE ASK OURSELVES DAILY IS "HOW DO WE ENSURE ALL OUR CHILDREN ARE READY FOR SCHOOL, READING AT GRADE LEVEL, SUCCEEDING IN SCHOOL, GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND ENTERING COLLEGE". WE ARE MODELLING A MAJOR PART OF OUR STRATEGY AFTER THE "HARLEM CHILDREN'S ZONE- AND WE HAVE STARTED IN A MANAGEABLE FOUR SQUARE BLOCK AREA. MCI HAVE ORGANIZED ITSELF USING "COLLECTIVE IMPACT" (STRIVE MODEL) AS AN ORGANIZING TOOL. MCI HAVE BEEN REMARKABLY SUCCESSFUL IN IMPLEMENTING OUR WORK IN THE 22 MONTHS UNDER NEW LEADERSHIP. MCI IS SHARING DATA, OUR DIFFICULTIES, AND OUR SUCCESSES OVER THE LAST TWENTY MONTHS, MCI HAVE SEEN DEVELOPMENT OF A KABOOM PLAYGROUND, WHICH IS STATE OF THE ART, AN OUTDOOR UFIT GYM, AND INCREASED PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS, INCLUDING THE CREATION OF A FREE LEGAL CLINIC.
