Mission

To inspire and prepare talented young performing artists for a successful career in classical music or musical theater, broadening their world view through participation in our immersive summer training programs.

About

Musiktheater Bavaria operated 2 summer study-abroad programs for students of opera, musical theater, and early music in summer 2019: the month-long Musiktheater Bavaria (MTB) program for studying opera and musical theater, and the 2-week International Baroque Academy (IBA)program for studying historical performance of Baroque music. In the 9th year of operating the MTB program, we served 32 students from universities throughout the U.S. and Canada who trained with our international faculty in Germany and performed 4 concerts for German audiences. In our first year of operating the IBA program, we served 18 students mostly from universities throughout the U.S., and also a few students from Canada, Mexico, and Spain, who trained with our international faculty in Germany and performed 3 concerts for German audiences. Intensive classes in both programs included voice, acting, dance, repertoire coaching, master classes, audition preparation, and practical career information. The objective of both programs is to make a meaningful impact on the performance skills of our opera, musical theater, and classical music students, while introducing them to opportunities and information about auditioning and building a career in the U.S. and Europe.
