Mission

Our mission is to impact the lives of young people in the Greater Houston area by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Founded in 2004, First Tee - Greater Houston is affiliated with the national program that began in 1997 and provides character development to over 350,000 local youth ages 7-18 regardless of ethnicity, religion, income, gender or ability. Our program is rooted in First Tee’s Nine Core Values of: Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy and Judgment. To address physical, emotional and social aspects, we also incorporate these Nine Healthy Habits: Energy, Play, Safety, Vision, Mind, Family, Friends, School and Community.

About

The First Tee Life Skill Experience teaches participants, ages 7-18, the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, making decisions, setting goals, and transferring values such as responsibility, honesty, and respect from the golf course to everyday life. This curriculum is currently provided at eight green grass facilities. The organization also provides the National School Program of The First Tee in 29 school districts plus several private schools. The teachers are trained by certified instructors from The First Tee headquarters in St. Augustine, Florida. These programs reach over 300,000 children each year.
