Mission

Feeding Our Communities Partners has a mission to engage our community in solving youth hunger. We envision a community in which hunger is not a barrier to success and believe that feeding hungry tummies allows for hungry and active minds during the school day.

About

Solving youth hunger: The BackPack Food Program reduces weekend and extended school break hunger in elementary school children who live in food-insecure households by providing child-friendly, well-balanced single serving food items intended for breakfast, lunch, and snack to be consumed each day of the weekend or school break. The food packs are assembled by volunteers and then provided to school personnel who discreetly place them in the backpacks or lockers of enrolled children. The food packs also contain a suggested menu for consumption of meals and lists other community resources available to families on the back. This program was offered at sixteen elementary schools during the 2018-2019 school year and provided 190,032 meals to 866 students.
