AIR CAMP,INC. IS A HANDS-ON, EDUCATIONAL STEM ADVENTURE IN AVIATION AND AERONAUTICS. THE FOCUS OF PROGRAMMING IS TO INSPIRE STUDENTS AT THE INTERMEDIATE AND MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVELS AS WELL AS TEACHERS AND EDUCATIONAL LEADERS ACROSS ALL GRADES TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) USING AVIATION AND AEROSPACE AS THE MEDIUM WHILE PROMOTING THE VALUES OF SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP AND CITIZENSHIP. IN 2018, AIR CAMP, INC. HELD TWO INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DAY CAMPS, THREE OVERNIGHT MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPS, ONE GIRL SCOUTS AIR CAMP, SIX TEACHER CAMPS, AND TWO ONE-DAY WIND TUNNEL EVENTS FOR TEACHERS. DURING THE PROGRAM YEAR OF 2018, A TOTAL OF ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO STUDENTS FROM TWENTY-EIGHT DIFFERENT STATES PARTICIPATED IN THE OVERNIGHT MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPS, 75 STUDENTS FROM 5 DIFFERENT STATES PARTICIPATED IN THE INTERMEDIATE DAY CAMPS, 38 TOTAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE GIRL SCOUTS AIR CAMP SESSION, 197 TEACHERS FROM 13 DIFFERENT STATES PARTICIPATED IN THE TEACHER CAMPS, AND 70 TEACHERS PARTICIPATED IN THE WIND TUNNEL EVENTS. PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPOSED TO A BROAD OFFERING OF LEARNING MODULES FOR EACH TYPE OF PROGRAM PROVIDED BY AIR CAMP, INC. WITH AN EMPHASIS ON IMMERSING STUDENTS IN ENGAGING EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ALONGSIDE EXPERTS IN STEM FIELDS WITHIN AUTHENTIC PROFESSIONAL WORK, RESEARCH, AND HISTORICAL LOCATIONS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO CAREERS AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN STEM AVIATION AND AERONAUTICS FIELDS INCLUDING FOUNDATIONAL EXPERIENCES LIKE APPLICATIONS OF THE PHYSICS OF FLIGHT AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, DESIGNING, CREATING, AND TESTING AIRFOILS IN A WIND TUNNEL, AND, FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND TEACHER PARTICIPANTS, THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN PILOTING AN ACTUAL AIRCRAFT DURING FLIGHT UNDER THE DIRECTION OF AN FAA CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR.
