SOUL IS A FOUNDATION FOCUSING ON EMPOWERING WOMEN BY DEVELOPING BUSINESS COOPERATIVES TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL SOURCE OF INCOME TO THE WOMEN OF RURAL UGANDA. SOUL ALSO PARTNERS WITH FAMILIES BY PROVIDING HALF OF THE SCHOOL FEES FOR PRIMARY, SECONDARY AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS. CURRENTLY WE HAVE 210 CHILDREN ENROLLED IN 20 SCHOOLS AND ALSO HAVE 200 WOMEN INVOLVED IN BUSINESSES INCLUDING FISH PONDS, CRAFT GROUPS, AND CHICKEN PROGRAMS.

In FYE ending 8/31/17, S.O.U.L. Foundation impacted over 14,000 individuals from 30 different communities. With 36 staff, led by an all-Ugandan team in country, S.O.U.L. has continued to bring sustainable partnerships in education, maternal health, womens empowerment, and food security to community members in the Jinja and Iganga Districts in Eastern Uganda. Highlights from this past year include the 450 students who are achieving their educational dreams thanks to S.O.U.L.s student sponsorship program, over 1,400 women who have accessed vital maternal health education and services through the Antenatal Education Center, and 2,459 rural farmers have been directly impacted by S.O.U.L.s food security programs. This past fiscal year, S.O.U.L. has expanded its exciting programs in the sister community of Iganga and has purchased land to build a Community Birthing Center. This year, S.O.U.L. also kicked off operations for a community maize mill, launched a fish cage farming project, and begun to roll out an emergency transport and dispatch system to provide timely transport for pregnant women with emergency obstetrical issues to a local health facility.
