With a vision for enriched education, the ASD Foundation encourages, promotes and supports innovative educational experiences for students in the Allentown School District. The foundations volunteer board of directors seeks individual contributions, foundation grants, and other funding for unique programs that promote excellence while recognizing the accomplishments of Allentowns 17000 students and 2100 employees. A suite of enriching programs range from volunteer readers to increase literacy amongst kindergartners, artist residencies, and teacher innovation grants to a science fair, academic showcase at years end, a Latin dance competition, a baseball drive program, national history day participation, and Allentown adventures. The foundations annual high notes gala is a student production attended by civic and community leaders, parents, and educators. One-third of the galas proceeds support the performing arts programs at the secondary level. In 2018-2019 program participation increased to involvement by more than 10,700 students.
