THE MIDDLE GRADES PARTNERSHIP (MGP) IS A YEAR-ROUND INTENSIVE LEARNING PROGRAM TO PREPARE RISING 6TH THROUGH 9TH-GRADE STUDENTS TO SUCCEED, BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND SOCIALLY IN HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE, AND BEYOND. THIS PROGRAM HAS A FOCUS ON DREEAMS DIVERSITY, RESILIENCE, ENGLISH, ENGINEERING, ARTS, MATH, AND SCIENCETHE SUMMER SESSION ALLOWS FOR A FIVE-WEEK PROGRAM COMBINING ACADEMIC AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE HOLISTIC GROWTH. THE PROJECT-BASED CURRICULUM ALLOWS STUDENTS TO GET OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONES AND CHALLENGED THEM TO WORK AS A TEAM. INSTRUCTORS WORK TO MAKE CONNECTIONS ACROSS THE CURRICULUM TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR THE IMMERSION TRIP IN THE FINAL WEEK WHERE STUDENTS LEARN WILDERNESS SKILLS AND NAVIGATION TECHNIQUES WHILE ENCOUNTERING NEW PLACES ON THIS EXPEDITION.WITH DREEAMS AS THE THEME OF THE PROGRAM, STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO BUILD ON LANGUAGE ARTS AND ALGEBRA SKILLS, WHILE INTEGRATING CULTURAL COMPETENCE, CHARACTER EDUCATION, ENGINEERING, ARTS, CIVICS, AND SCIENCE. THE PROGRAM USES THE CONNECTED MATHEMATICS PROJECT (CMP) TO HELP STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE FUNDAMENTAL IDEAS OF ARITHMETIC, GEOMETRY, DATA, MEASUREMENT, AND EARLY ALGEBRA. THE AFTER-SCHOOL PORTION OF THE PROGRAM ALLOWS TIME TO DIVE DEEPLY INTO MATHEMATICS WHILE FOSTERING VARIOUS APPROACHES TO LEARNING. GROWING STUDENTS' ABILITY TO WORK ON DIVERSE TEAMS AND SOLVE DYNAMIC PROBLEMS CREATES RESILIENCE IN THE FACE OF A RAPIDLY CHANGING WORLD. STUDENTS ALSO EXPLORE SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND COMMUNITY EVENTS.
