Team DC serves as an amateur athletic association with the goals of fostering greater participation in national and international amateur sports competition by the LGBT community. Team DC formally organized a working group called GGDC2022 in March of 2016 to manage the activities of the bid to host Gay Games XI in 2022. This is a global quadrennial event sponsored by the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) that would draw thousands of participants and spectators to Washington DC.
