Dr. Gertrude A. Barber in Home Services, Inc. supports the individual as well as the parents, guardians, and other care givers through agency with choice (AWC), a financial management/participant directed service available to individuals with an intellectual disability who reside in their own residence or the home of family members. Participants have a high level of choice and control over managing their own services and supports. A joint relationship is formed between an individual and/or family member with the AWC family liaison who assists in managing services by providing administrative functions, such as the training of staff who provides needed services in the home. The AWC program experienced rapid growth and now serves more than 520 individuals and their families, providing them with greater choice and control over the services and caregivers that they prefer to meet their needs. In Home Services provides services in accordance with the mission statement as outlined in part III of the form 990.
