About this organization
Mission
Founded in 1974, the Congressionally-designated National Children’s Museum has served Washington’s youngest learners for over 45 years. When National Children’s Museum reopens in a new space on Pennsylvania Avenue in fall 2019, a next generation institution will inspire children to care about and change the world. In its next chapter, National Children’s Museum will complement the cultural ecosystem by fostering critical competencies in STEAM: science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Combining science center content with a modern children’s museum, National Children’s Museum will fill the void for early childhood education and science learning, capturing curiosity in young innovators before career aspirations are created.
