The Old Saybrook Ambulance Association (OSAA) currently owns and operates two fully equipped ambulances which are dispatched through the 911 emergency system. Ambulance service is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ambulances are manned by volunteers trained in emergency medicine. OSAA currently has 36 active staff, 34 of whom are certified EMT's, 4 certified as EMR's and 3 certified as EMT paramedics. In the fiscal year ended 4/30/19 OSAA responded to 1,562 emergency medical calls. OSAA is also active in educating residents in matters of health and safety, such as providing first aid and CPR classes, and training in the use of life saving devices such as defibrillators and Epi-pens.
