Suncoast Academy is open to any student, kindergarten through 5th grade, who reside in the school district of Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties. The goal is to target those students who reside geographically close to the school. Students will be considered for admission without regard to race, religion, gender, or nation or ethnic origin. Suncoast Academy provides training for teachers and administration in responsive education. This method has been proved to increase success in the classroom. Responsive classroom is not social skills or character education program that is an add-on nor is it just another curriculum. Responsive education is an approach to teaching and learning that integrates academic and social learning throughout the entire curriculum. Through a contractual arrangement with the Northeast Foundation for Children, the academy's staff receives specialized training in the responsive educational approach to teaching
