FOUNDED IN 1913, THE MORRIS MUSEUM IS ONE OF NEW JERSEY'S OLDEST AND MOST DYNAMIC CULTURAL CENTERS. ITS CHANGING EXHIBITION SCHEDULE DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM ITS PERMANENT COLLECTION OF MORE THAN 40,000 OBJECTS THAT INCLUDES FINE ARTS, CONTEMPORARY CRAFTS, HISTORIC COSTUMES, GEOLOGY, PALEONTOLOGY, AND POPULAR CULTURE. THE MUSEUM'S ROLE AS A TEACHING INSTITUTION IS EVIDENT IN THE EXTENSIVE ONSITE FIELD TRIP EXPERIENCES AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS IN THE ARTS AND SCIENCES OFFERED TO STUDENTS FROM THROUGHOUT THE STATE, AND THE POPULAR MUSEUM LOAN DEPARTMENT THAT LENDS MORE THAN 1,400 PORTABLE EXHIBITS TO SCHOOLS, LIBRARIES AND COMMUNITY CENTERS. THE MUSEUM'S COMPREHENSIVE, YEAR ROUND SCHEDULE OF EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDES ART TALK TOURS, STUDIO ART COURSES, SUPER SCIENCE SATURDAYS, TEA AND TREASURES FROM THE VAULT, HOME SCHOOL ADVENTURES, SCHOOL VACATION WORKSHOPS, GUIDED GALLERY PROGRAMS, ALONG WITH MEMBER PREVIEW OPENINGS AND TOURS.
