ADMINISTRATION:IN EARLY 2018 THE USA BOARD ENDED THE PARTNERSHIP WITH CHANGEALIFE UGANDA IN UGANDA AND FORMED A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NGO (NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION), GTI, GRASSROOTS TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVE UGANDA TO IMPLEMENT OUR EDUCATION AND HEALTH PROGRAMMING. GTI FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING ITS ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, HUMAN RESOURCES AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS ON EDUCATION AND HEALTH.EDUCATION:BY THE END OF THE 2017 SCHOOL YEAR CALU IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GTI, 359 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN OUR SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM ATTENDING PRIMARY, SECONDARY SCHOOLS, VOCATIONAL COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS. THE SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE CONSISTS OF TUITION AND BOARDING FEES, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND CAREER GUIDANCE. 132 CHILDREN WERE IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS FROM PRIMARY THREE TO PRIMARY SEVEN, 187 CHILDREN IN SECONDARY SCHOOL FROM SENIOR ONE TO SENIOR SIX, 26 CHILDREN AT TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS, 14 CHILDREN AT THE UNIVERSITY. NINE STUDENTS COMPLETED THEIR STUDIES IN 2018, BRINGING THE TOTAL OF HIGHER INSTITUTION GRADUATES TO 61 SINCE 2009 TO-DATE. TWO COMPLETED SENIOR FOUR AND CHOSE TO WORK INSTEAD. FUNCTIONAL ADULT LITERACYFUNCTIONAL ADULT LITERACY (FAL), WHICH IS ALSO KNOWN AS LITERACY FOR LIVING CONTINUES TO EDUCATE PRIMARILY THE PARENTS OF OUR SPONSORED STUDENTS TO LEARN TO READ, WRITE SPEAK ENGLISH AND TO ACQUIRE BASIC MATHEMATICAL SKILLS. GTIS JOURNEY TO RE-ESTABLISH A WELL-DESIGNED EFFECTIVE FUNCTIONAL ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM WHICH STARTED IN JULY 2018 WITH 100 RECRUITS WITH EXTREMELY LIMITED OR NO DEMONSTRABLE ABILITIES AT ALL TO READ, WRITE AND CARRY OUT SIMPLE CALCULATIONS IS STILL CARRYING ON STRONG. MANY OF THE PARTICIPANTS WHO INITIALLY DIDNT KNOW HOW TO HOLD A PENCIL, TO WRITE THEIR NAME, COUNT MONEY, WRITE AND READ MONETARY FIGURES ARE MAKING A SURE PROGRESS. MANY OF THEM CAN NOW MAKE REASONABLE SENTENCES IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WHILE EXPRESSING THEMSELVES.
