STEM education supports programs in the K-12 and community colleges that improve academic achievement, teacher professional development and link industry to classroom needs. Programs funded are focused on hands-on, interactive learning that provide critical thinking skills to students. Some programs are designed to create student interest and enthusiasm for STEM careers, better prepare them in math and science, and offer early college industry-driven learning experiences that result in certifications, and two- and four-year degrees in STEM fields. Awarded 230 grants, including funding 182 after school STEM clubs, 25 computer/science labs and 22 pathway grants. In addition, SFAZ continued oversight of 12 education grants; one of which supports engineering pathways designed to expand engineering and applied technology programs and broaden K-12 outreach. SFAZ continues the expansion and implementation of the Arizona STEM network, collaboration of business, educators, government and philanthropy to graduate more students prepared for a 21st century education through STEM.
