WAMO PURCHASED AND MANAGED THE TOOLE SHED WAREHOUSE THAT HOUSES 13 ART STUDIOS, TOOK OVER THE MASTER LEASE OF THE CITIZENS WAREHOUSE THAT CONTAINS 38 ART STUDIOS AND ONE SPACE FOR A NON-PROFIT, COLLECTIVELY-RUN COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RECYCLING CENTER FOR BICYCLES 45 ARTISTS DIRECTLY BENEFIT, APPROXIMATELY 6,000 PERSONS WHO COME TO OPEN STUDIO TOURS OR PARTICIPATE IN CLASSES, ACTIVITIES, AND EVENTS, WERE INDIRECTLY BENEFITED.PROMOTION OF THE TUCSON HISTORIC WAREHOUSE ARTS DISTRICT, ITS ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH OUTREACH, SOCIAL MEDIA, A DEDICATED WEBSITE (WAREHOUSEARTSDISTRICT.COM), OPEN STUDIO TOUR SPONSORSHIP, AND SPECIAL ARTS EVENTS, WAMO WORKS TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF ARTISTS AND CREATIVE BUSINESSES IN THE DISTRICT. APPROXIMATELY 8,000 PERSONS WERE REACHED.ARTS ADVOCACY WAMO WORKS TO ENSURE THAT RE-DEVELOPMENT/ REVITALIZATION EFFORTS IN DOWNTOWN TUCSON ARE INCLUSIVE OF THE ARTS, AND CONSISTENT WITH THE WAREHOUSE ARTS DISTRICT MASTER PLAN. THE FOCUS IS ON INCREASING THE COMMITMENT TO PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC WAREHOUSES AND TO DEVELOPMENT OF AREA AS ARTS DISTRICT AMONG KEY STAKEHOLDERS.
