Mission

Boston After School & Beyond connects school, after-school, and summer learning strategies so that young people have the opportunity to learn and thrive.

About

Boston Summer Learning - Summer learning is the agency's most enduring initiative, impacting more than 14,000 Boston students through 160 programs in its 10th year. Co-managed by the agency and the Boston Public Schools, Boston Summer Learning is a collaborative summer learning model that leverages the strengths of academic teachers, community organizations, and Boston's rich resources to equip youth with the skills, experiences and social capital to navigate life's challenges and opportunities. The model is supported by high quality RAND research, and is now embedded in local policy with the Boston Public Schools allocating more than $3 million toward the approach in summer 2018 and again in summer 2019. Boston now maintains a nation-leading position in summer learning, and new funding in the state budget is expanding access for approximately 2,200 students by bringing this model to 19 other communities across Massachusetts.
