Our mission is to improve oral health in Kansas through advocacy, public awareness and education. Our vision is that Kansas is a national leader in oral health education, prevention and treatment. Maintain a successful statewide oral health coalition to provide advocacy, public awareness and education related to oral health in Kansas. Appoint and oversee committees in strategic areas of interest, such as advocacy, water fluoridation, early childhood, and innovative workforce improvement approaches. Implement a leadership program with the goal of developing a statewide network of Dental Champions that promote a progressive vision of oral health improvement in Kansas, including oral health improvement at the local, regional and state levels. Develop and implement programs that promote system-level changes that facilitate access to oral health care, including forming and supporting community coalitions across the state. Provide oral health education for home visitors who work with pregnant women and families of young children. Implement Thirsty for Health project to help students in K-12 schools make water their drink of choice more often during the school day. Work with school districts across the state to identify policy and practice barriers and implement solutions. Develop and promote a sugary drink display for use by schools, health departments, libraries, and clinics across the state to show the sugary content of popular beverages.
