Youth SportsThis program has the largest number of participants of any offered by the JCC, with approximately 500 children participating in basketball alone. The size of the program requires the use of many fields and gyms around the county. A typical year includes participation in flag football, mini soccer, basketball, mini basketball, pre-k soccer, mini baseball, and sports-themed summer camps.Maccabi ProgramsThe JCC provides three sets of Maccabi programs for children ages 9 to 16. Mini Maccabi is a one-day program held at JCC Rockland for children ages 9-10, which attracted more than 200 children participating. Junior Maccabi is for children ages 10-12, also a one-day event, where the JCC had more than 25 participants. The JCC Maccabi Games are for athletes ages 13-16, which had approximately 33 participants. SeniorsOver 1,200 Rockland County seniors enjoy a variety of trips, educational events, lectures, clubs, dance instruction, fitness and other activities in a congenial environment. Cultural ArtsThe Arts, Book and Cultural Festival takes place in November each year and features authors, films and other programs. The Jewish Film Festival takes place in the spring and features more than 15 movies, which attracts thousands of attendees. Day CampApproximately 300 children participated in summer camp through JCC Rockland. Over 200 children attended weekly on-site camp programs through Camp Discover and All-Star Sports Camp. Additionally, approximately 25 campers in grades K through 6 enjoy one or two sessions of structured camp activities each summer at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Pearl River, NY. A teen travel camp also ran off site and served about 25 teenage children each week Pre-K campThis is a popular program offered during the summer months for approximately 40 children.TeensThe major component of this program is a teen leadership program, which has more than 40 participants in grades 10-12. Hundreds of teens participate in Mitzvah Day where the teens do community service projects. In March-April each year, the teens welcome approximately 30 high school teens from Hod Hasharon Israel for approximately a week. Pre-K campThis is a popular program offered during the summer months for approximately 40 children.
