About this organization
Mission
For over four decades, AFJ has pursued a three-fold mission to: 1) intervene to divert and reclaim young people from lives of crime by providing alternatives of education, job-readiness training, counseling with appropriate referrals, and positive, supportive role models; 2) provide an overloaded court system with a reliable, effective and inexpensive alternative to incarceration of youths; 3) make the NYC safer for everyone through an ongoing focus on crime prevention. In 2015, we changed our name from Andrew Glover Youth Program to Avenues for Justice. The new name not only honors our beginnings on the avenues of the Lower East Side, it signifies our goal to set each of our clients on the path to a better future.
