About

Housing program - Community Services Housing Development Corp. works to stabilize and maintain the stability of the community through a number of tools. The development of low- and moderate-income housing, management of low- and moderate-income housing; the creation and operation of social service programs that provide needed support services to the general community and to the residents. Over the last year, from January to December, Community Services Housing Development Corp. (CSHDC) managed 219 units of low-income housing including two low-income tenant owned co-ops. CSHDC's management stabilized and worked to preserve these properties, providing essential services like heat and hot water, cleaning, security and other necessary services to maintain the viability of these buildings. This enabled the residents, over 65% of whom are categorized, using HUD data, as low- and very low income homes, to maintain affordable homes in the community. Additionally, CSHDC operated a food pantry that provided food, with a goal of three meals for three days for a family of four. CSHDC met the food needs of an average of 2,200 individuals a month, including 947 children, who were able to supplement their diet through the operation of the food pantry. During the winter months, from November to January, CSHDC operated a winter coat program where we provided 400 winter coats to community residents, men, women, and children. The organization operated both programs through participation in municipally funded programs. The food pantry and the winter coat program were provided without fee to our residents and community.
