About this organization
Mission
Southwest Boston Community Development Corporation works to build and sustain a thriving, economically diverse community in Hyde Park and Roslindale. We work to prevent displacement (particularly of low-income and elderly residents), create and preserve affordable housing, strengthen the commercial base of the neighborhoods, ensure access to good transit and green spaces, and develop local leaders whose voices are not otherwise heard. We bring long-time residents and newcomers of all ages and diverse backgrounds together to make positive change.
About
Real estate development. SWBCDC develops affordable housing for low and moderate income families in order to help sustain and preserve neighborhoods and address the ongoing housing crisis in Boston. The organization has a portfolio of 8 affordable family sized apartments in Roslindale that were acquired and preserved as affordable in the summer of 2016 in Boston, DND's access and opportunity program, to keep tenants in their apartments. This led to a 30 unit program in 2019-20. This began our joint venture proposal with Rogerson. SWBCDC is also now co-developing a 27-unit, transit-oriented LEED silver certified rental building within steps of the Fairmount train station and the shops in Hyde Park's main commercial district. These apartments will be rented to very low, low and moderate-income families.
