About

Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary is dedicated to environmental education and research, restoration of native flora and fauna, conservation and protection of natural resources, and spreading appreciation and enjoyment of nature. During the 2019 fiscal year, we had 10,003 visitors from 23 Tennessee counties and 20 states. 138 school programs were provided both on-site and in classrooms reaching 5,000 students and teachers from 84 schools in the Middle Tennessee area. We also provided 101 outdoor public program days, assistance on 6 completed Eagle Scout projects and 155 Scouts badge requirements. We have also conducted conservation and research projects that resulted in 15 acres of honeysuckle, stiltgrass, and privet cleared in addition to identifying 52 new species. Additionally, we have planted 743 native perennials, shrubs and trees; citizen science programs recorded 579 birds representing 61 species and 859 butterflies representing 39 species.
