Mission

The Mission Of The Land Conservation Assistance Network (Landcan) Is To Support And Develop Innovative Conservation Programs To Strengthen And Sustain Rural Communities, Economies And Green Businesses, And To Support Private Sector Conservation Initiatives.

About

Land Conservation Assistance Network (LandCAN) primarily develops web-based projects to support private land conservation efforts. LandCAN's suite of web-based tools and services begins with the Private Landowner Network (PLN), www.privatelandownernetwork.org. PLN is an online directory of conservation information and services. From federal and state funding and technical assistance programs to foresters, lawyers, and estate planners to articles familiarizing landowners with conservation options, users can search the over 30,000 listings in the PLN database for these resources by zip code, town, county, state, or by the various categories of services. (continued on Schedule O)LandCAN launched the Conservation Tax Center (CTC), www.landcan.org/conservation-tax-center, in 2007. The CTC hosts a library of articles for both private landowners and professionals, a database of over 2,400 lawyers and estate planners nationwide, and federal and state tax incentive programs with information and eligibility requirements. The site provides a map of all 50 states guiding visitors to local service providers and programs. LandCAN continues to develop state specific websites to hone in on individual state conservation needs. Created in 2007, the first site in this series was the Maine Land Conservation Assistance Network, www.mainelandcan.org. The website provides a comprehensive menu of conservation services for private landowners, and supports those sustainably managing Maine's natural resources and open space, like local farmers, foresters, and alternative energy retailers. The site also includes GIS mapping program, essentially allowing visitors to estimate the conservation potential of their property. Since then, LandCAN has developed additional state specific sites for California, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Idaho, and Colorado. Additionally, LandCAN continues to expand the Texas Conservation Assistance Network (www.TexasLandCAN.org), and the expansion of Virginia Conservation Assistance Network (www.VirginiaLandCAN.org) while we continually update our other seven state sites. We are working on adding the Monarch Butterfly to our www.HabitatCAN.org site.
