The mission of the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals is to protect the health and welfare of neglected and abused equines.

The MSSPA rescues, rehabilitates or re-homes large animals, particularly equines who have been seized by Maine law enforcement officials from circumstances of abuse or neglect.
