About

C/HOPE was created in 2002 to address the negative cycle of youth incarceration. C/HOPE has served more than 3,000 male probation youth, ages 14-17, at Camp David Gonzales in the Malibu Mountains. Participants attend classes to enhance their education, social skills, and coping skills. C/HOPE also assists with reentry into the community through case management so that participants can successfully re-enter school, secure employment, and achieve their personal goals. C/HOPE has reduced the recidivism rate to 20%, which is far below the 70% rate reported by the California Department of Juvenile Justice.Camp David Gonzales closed during the year and C/HOPE relocated to Camp Dorathy Kirby in Commerce. Services commuted at this camp to co-ed students.
